The GO / NO-GO creator guide

Last updated: 7 November 2026

Everything you need, in the order you need it โ€” how to get approved, how to share your link so you actually get paid, what you earn, and how the money reaches you. Section 2 is the one that decides whether you earn anything at all, so read that bit twice.

1. Get set up

About five minutes, once.

  1. Create a free account at gonogoboatapp.com/signup, using the email you'll apply with. Approval attaches to your account, so the two must match.
  2. Verify your email. Nothing else works until you do โ€” including payouts.
  3. Apply at gonogoboatapp.com/creator. Every application is read by hand.
  4. Wait for the approval email. Your link, code and dashboard are ready the moment you're approved โ€” just sign in.
  5. Download the app free, and sign in with the same account.

The app is free to download. Nobody is ever charged to install it, and being a creator never costs you anything.

2. Share your link โ€” the bit that decides whether you get paid

Your link looks like this:

https://gonogoboatapp.com/r/YOURCODE

The longer form gonogoboatapp.com/?ref=YOURCODE works identically โ€” use whichever you prefer. The short one is far easier to say out loud.

โš  Share the link โ€” not "go download the app"

If someone taps your link, the site remembers your code and attaches it when they sign up. That works whether they finish on the website or carry on into the app.

If you only say "search for GO / NO-GO and download it", the App Store and Google Play do not pass your code along. That person signs up with a blank referral field and you earn nothing from them. It isn't something we can fix afterwards โ€” there's simply no code attached to their account.

Saying it out loud โ€” in a video, on a podcast, at the marina โ€” give the code as well as the link:

"Go to gonogoboatapp.com slash R slash SKIPPER โ€” or just use code SKIPPER when you sign up."

There's a "Referral code (optional)" box on the sign-up screen in the app, and the app asks new users outright whether anyone sent them. Someone who enters your code there counts fully and permanently. So the spoken fallback genuinely works โ€” but only if you actually say the code.

Attribution is permanent. It's written once, when they create their account. It never expires, and nothing they do later changes it.

3. What you earn

35% of net receipts, every month they keep paying. Not a one-off bounty.

"Net" means after the app store takes its cut โ€” that money never reaches us, so it can't be shared. Worked through on a $2.99 monthly subscriber:

They pay$2.99
Store takes 15%โˆ’$0.45
Net$2.54
Your 35%$0.89 per month

A hundred monthly-plan referrals who stay subscribed is roughly $89 every month, for as long as they stay.

Annual subscribers pay you monthly too

If someone you referred takes the annual plan, you don't wait a year for your money. Their payment is worked out per month โ€” the annual price, less the store's cut, divided by twelve โ€” and credited to you every month they stay subscribed, exactly like a monthly subscriber.

Monthly planAnnual plan
They pay$2.99 per month$19.99 per year
Net, after the store’s 15%$2.54 per month$16.99 per year
You earn$0.89 per month$0.50 per month
Over a full yearabout $10.67about $5.95

An annual subscriber is worth less to you over a year โ€” not because annual is treated differently, but because the annual plan is cheaper than twelve monthly payments. That discount is the customer's, and it comes off everyone's share. In exchange, annual subscribers tend to stay far longer, and they can't lapse by forgetting a payment.

Either way, the rule is the same: you earn every month, while they're paying.

You earn only while someone is actually paying. Free users, people on trial and lapsed subscribers earn nothing โ€” they still appear on your dashboard, which is how you can see the difference.

4. Discount codes

You can issue your own discount code to win subscribers โ€” say 10% off.

The discount comes out of your 35%, never out of the company's share. Give 10% off and you earn 25%. Your rate is simply 35 minus whatever you give away.

You can give away your entire 35% and no more โ€” you can't go negative, and you can't discount our margin. Set them up in your dashboard.

A discount code also carries attribution, so anyone using it is credited to you automatically. It does the job of a referral link and a discount at once.

Edits don't rewrite history. Change a code's discount later and anyone who already signed up keeps the rate they signed up under.

5. Your dashboard

Sign in at gonogoboatapp.com/dashboard. It shows:

What it never shows you, deliberately: names, email addresses, exact dates, locations, or anything about anyone's boat. You get numbers, not people โ€” enough to check our arithmetic, never enough to identify a customer. That's a promise to them, not an oversight.

6. Getting paid

  1. Accept the Creator & Referral Terms โ€” separate from the ordinary Terms of Use.
  2. Add your bank details in your account. They're encrypted at rest, and only the last four digits are ever shown back to you.
  3. Your dashboard will then say payout ready.

Paid monthly, once your balance reaches $20. Anything under that rolls over to the next month โ€” it isn't lost, it just waits.

Without bank details and current terms, no payout can be raised however much you've earned. Do it early rather than at month end.

7. Rules worth knowing

Quick answers

Does it cost anything to download the app?
No. Free on both stores. The only charge is if someone chooses Premium inside the app.

Do I have to pay for Premium to be a creator?
No. Approved creators earn regardless. Ordinary subscribers can also refer people, at 20%, but only while they're paying themselves.

Someone I referred signed up without my code. Can you fix it?
No. Attribution is set when the account is created and can't be reassigned โ€” otherwise anyone could claim anyone. This is exactly why section 2 matters.

When does my commission start?
The month they start paying, and it continues every month they stay.

Not a creator yet?

Apply in a couple of minutes. We read every application by hand, and your link, code and dashboard are ready the day you're approved.
