01 What these terms cover
These Creator & Referral Terms apply to anyone who earns, or wants to earn, commission from GO / NO-GO: approved creators (influencers, clubs, marinas and other partners we have approved) and Premium members who refer friends. They sit alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
You must accept these terms, and give us your bank details, before we can pay you anything. You do that in your account dashboard. By accepting you confirm you have read and agree to them.
02 Who can earn
- Approved creators earn 35% of net revenue (see section 3). We approve creators by hand, and can say no.
- Paying Premium members earn 20% of net revenue on people they refer.
- Free members, people on a free trial and founding members (who keep Premium features without paying) do not earn commission. You can start earning from the moment you become a paying Premium member or an approved creator.
03 How commission is worked out
Commission is a flat percentage of net receipts: what a subscription brings in after the app store’s fee (currently 15% through Google Play), and after any sales tax or VAT included in the price. It is never a percentage of the sticker price. There are no tiers or thresholds, and no cap on what you can earn.
We round commission to the nearest cent for each subscriber, each month. Commission recurs for every month your referred subscriber keeps paying, and stops when they stop. A refund, chargeback or cancelled payment reduces or reverses the commission on it.
These figures are examples, not promises. You only earn when people you refer actually subscribe and keep paying. Prices, store fees and rates can change; we will give at least 30 days’ notice before changing a rate for people you have already referred.
04 Who counts as your referral
A subscriber is yours if they sign up using your personal link or your code (a referral code or one of your discount codes) and we record it at sign-up. If someone arrives with more than one code, the first one recorded counts. You cannot refer yourself, your own other accounts, or anyone you control. We decide any dispute about attribution, acting fairly and using our records.
05 Discount codes (creators)
Approved creators can make their own discount codes. A discount comes out of your own commission, never out of ours: your rate on a subscriber who uses a code is 35% minus the discount. You can offer up to 35% off, at which point you earn nothing on that subscriber but still win them. The discount a subscriber arrived with is recorded when they sign up, so editing or deleting a code later does not change what you are owed on people who already subscribed. You can have up to 20 codes, and code names are first come, first served. We may remove a code that is misleading or abused.
06 Bank details and how we pay you
To be paid you must give us a bank account in your own name (IBAN, or account number and SWIFT/routing code), and keep it accurate and up to date. If your details are wrong, the money may be delayed or lost and the fault is not ours; if it is returned we will ask you to correct your details and will pay you again.
We store your bank details encrypted, use them only to pay you and to meet legal obligations, and never sell or share them except with our bank or payment provider to make the transfer. Only authorised staff can see them, and every time they do it is recorded. You can view the end of your account number, update it, or remove it from your dashboard at any time (we cannot pay you without it). We may ask for further information (for example proof of identity or tax details) where the law requires it, and may delay a payment until we have it.
07 When we pay: schedule, minimum and currency
Commission is paid monthly, once the app store or payment provider has paid us for the month it relates to. A payout is raised for a month once your balance reaches $20; smaller balances roll over to the next month. We pay by bank transfer in US dollars or euros, converted at our bank’s rate on the day, and we pay the transfer costs on our side (your own bank may charge you). We make one payment per person per month.
Your dashboard shows your balance, your payout history and whether your payout details are complete. If you are asked to add or fix details, please do it promptly so we can pay you.
08 Tax
You are an independent partner, not our employee, agent or contractor, and you are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn (income tax, VAT or sales tax where they apply, and any registrations or returns). We do not give tax advice. Where the law requires us to report payments or withhold tax, we will do so.
09 How you promote GO / NO-GO
Promote us honestly and legally. You agree to:
- tell your audience clearly that you earn commission (for example “I earn commission if you subscribe”, or #ad), in line with the advertising rules where you and your audience live;
- never claim, or imply, that GO / NO-GO guarantees safety, replaces seamanship, or that it is safe to go out because the app says so. It is guidance only, and the skipper decides;
- never promise income, make false or misleading claims, spam, impersonate us or others, or use paid search ads on our name or brand terms;
- follow the rules of the platforms you use and avoid targeting children;
- not use bots, fake accounts, incentives that break the stores’ rules, or any method designed to fake sign-ups or subscriptions.
10 What you can and cannot see
Your dashboard shows numbers, not people: a sequence number, the month someone joined, whether they are paying, and what they earn you. We never show you names, emails, exact dates, locations or boat tracks, and you agree not to try to find out, or to collect personal information about people you refer. The numbers are there so you can check our maths.
11 Fraud, withheld commission and ending the programme
We can withhold, reverse or recover commission that arose from fraud, self-referral, fake or refunded subscriptions, chargebacks, or a breach of these terms, and we can remove you from the programme and block your account if you seriously or repeatedly break them. Commission properly earned and not affected by any of that remains payable.
You can leave at any time. We can end or change the programme or your place in it on 30 days’ written notice (by email or in the app); commission earned up to the end date is still paid. Ending the programme does not affect your use of the app itself.
12 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Each version has a date and number and we record which one you accepted. If we change them in a way that matters to you, we will ask you to accept the new version before your next payout; if you do not accept, we cannot pay you under the new terms (commission earned under the old ones stays payable).
13 Liability, governing law and contact
Our liability to you under these terms is limited as set out in the Terms of Use, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, with the consumer protections described in the Terms of Use where they apply. Questions: [email protected].
